Can you help resolve this debacle over printer cartridges?
I have always purchased printer cartridges based on the make and model of the printer. I have NEVER had to look at the specific number on a printer cartridge itself, but our purchasing agent is asking for that. Is it EVER necessary to specify the actual number on the cartridge? Isn't it always based on the make/model with which they are compatible?
It is already clear that this particular printer and a whole series with the similar model take the exact same cartridge. All you need to do is look at the compatability info on the box to know what printers it will go with. My purchasing agent doesn't seem to understand this concept.
Just go to the Office Depot or Office Max web sites, look up the printer, and it will give you the cartridge numbers. When placing an order for anything it is always better to give the exact stock number. It would be like walking into a grocery and asking for the filters for a Mister Coffee C123QX. They would have no idea what you need.
