What can happen when you put antibiotic cream meant for minor cuts on a deep cut?
I got my index finger smashed between to heavy metal objects, and it peeled part of the skin on the underside of my finger back. It did not cut to the bone, but likely to the meat. I have cleaned it with peroxide, water, and alcohol pads, then put antibiotic cream on it and rapped it in gauze. The cream was meant for "minor cuts and burns" Will i be okay using it on this?
To answer your question as asked, yes. It will not harm you. How much good it will do is another story.
Here's what I suggest you do and I would have suggested the same thing as a temporary measure to the soldiers under my command. 1) Continue to clean it. You can't clean it too much. 2) Keep putting the antibiotic ointment on it. Use triple antibiotic the brand dose not matter, Neosporin is good also.
3) CALL YOUR DOCTOR it might need stitches. I can't say because I can't see it. Call the Dr. anyway yesterday would not have been too soon.
