What is the best ink color to learn by?
Every text we read in textbooks and text is black, but is that really the best color to learn by? If you know of any color that improves the amount of material you can learn, please tell me. References would be appreciated 
Black text on a white background provides the maximum contrast, allowing the eyes to discern and the mind to read the text (you could also have white text on black background as in teacher's blackboards, but with text it would use up too much ink to background the pages). Text books in red, say, would not be as useful as red ink does not photocopy very well and red ink fades over time. That is why red ink is not acceptable in courts of law; it does not provide a permanent record. Legal black is a term found in the legal industry. If you sign your mortgage contract in red ink, ten years later the signature might not be legible and in a subsequent court hearing on non-payment the Lender might not be able to have the contract enforced. Blue ink, although prettier, is also not as good as black ink text for scanning and photocopying. As to business costs, black ink is probably a lot cheaper to manufacture than are colored pigments. When legally registering documents, a Registrar General may require black ink and this requirement may be enshrined in those Acts of Parliament that regulate Registries.
The use of different colors in some text books greatly assists the compartmentalising of information and assists the reader to prioritise the information to save time and does assist learning. However, texts are for all persons and some students are color-blind.
Not everyone always gets to read under bright lights, especially travelling students. In dim light some colours are not easily discernable. That is why the Cheka in Russia used to have their agents wear a red colored costume when they did night work, such as when infiltrating residences. The red color blended into the dark night, whereas a spy in black apparel was too dark and they could be seen when moving against the lesser dark night shadows. Similarly, you will find that painters do not commonly paint the shadows in their pictures a pure black, but instead use a bluish tinge to make shadows appear more real.
