Inserts Sealed
Are refill clips a better way to refill HP 45 inkjet cartridges?

I've tried refilling my HP 45s (pushing in the ball bearing, squirting in ink, and re-sealing with the enclosed rubber caps), but they always leak, even when I squeeze the sides before inserting the cap. I wondered if the clips that force the ink in through the head were more likely to be effective (and possibly neater). I use a lot of ink, so I really want to find a refill solution that works for me.

The clips can be very messy if you don't get a good seal, or if you over fill the cartridge (which is easy to do)

You cartridges are currently leaking because you are probably not deflating the bags and sealing them with a bit of negative pressure. PUt a paper towel over the print ehad while doing this it may spit out a bit of ink.

Try using an empty syringe to force about 10cc of air into the cartridge prior to filling. after that has done squeeze the cartridge while filling, and sealing. Once you have a tight seal you can release the pressure.

another thing you may want to try is getting a refill kit with ball bearings they seal a little better. You can just keep pushing ball bearings into the cartridge, it won't make a great difference.

If you find there is a bit of excess ink after this you can give it one more squeeze over the sink to create a tighter seal.
