Obama has NOT extended the tax cuts for the middle class. Why are Liberals so sure that he will?
Because he said so? LOL!!!
Hasn't he said a lot of things?
You can't blame the democrats for not passing something the Republicans are blocking. I can blame them for that, because I'm a democrat, but if you support the Republicans, you should be complaining to the politicians you support and threaten to vote for more Democrats so that such proposals can pass more easily.
Granted, the Democrats should be able to pass pretty much anything they want to and I complain plenty about the fact that they are so inept they cannot manage to do it, but you can't complain about it as long as you are supporting the obstructionists preventing it.
Specifically, with the middle class tax cuts, Obama and the Democratic leadership in both houses wants to pass an extension of the middle class tax cuts but doesn't want to extend the tax cuts on the rich. If they do nothing, the tax cuts all expire. If they offer a tax cut for just the middle class, the Republicans will tack on an amendment to extend all the Bush tax cuts. Some of the moderate Democrats or the ones in conservative districts fear political reprisal for voting against such an amendment because, while fiscally unsound and not significantly affecting many voters and not majorly affecting any voters, it is politically unpopular to vote against any tax cut at all.
I would like the Democrats to introduce the bill and vote for it and vote against any Republican amendment. They may do just that, but if they fail to do so, I'll complain. If you have a problem with it, talk to your party leaders and tell them to support the middle class tax cut. But you can't park on the highway and complain about the traffic.
(BTW, I don't 100% support the middle class tax cut anyway, but absent a fuller change in our tax system, it is a good step.)
